The experiences of the European Union countries and the experiences in Croatia have shown that energy efficient renovation and construction of new buildings with the lowest possible energy consumption currently represent a major challenge for the construction sector and industry as a whole. The state of the housing stock of the Republic of Croatia and the consumption of energy by this sector, together with the growth of energy prices on the world market, indicate that energy efficient renovation is an area in which most construction work can be expected in the coming years. In order to achieve the goals of EU directives in buildings, it is necessary to develop a system of continuous education of workers in the field of energy efficiency. Within the CROSKILLS project, based on the analysis of existing strategic documents and plans and surveys conducted among craftsmen and relevant vocational schools, the necessary skills were identified and the number of workers needed in each activity was estimated.
